We are embarking upon a major restoration project of the Ship Hector for the 250th anniversary of the arrival of the ship in Pictou, Nova Scotia in 1773. We will be restoring the Hector to a fully rigged tall ship which will be a major tourist draw for the province of Nova Scotia.
The first step in the restoration was to remove the Hector from the water. This was completed on June 5, 2020.
Now that the Hector is on dry land, the next step will be to prepare the ship for the necessary repairs to the planking and decks. We will also be installing motors and safety equipment necessary to meet marine standards.
